Weather forecast was for rain all day, so spent the morning doing detailed design drawings and putting together materials-needed lists for the sauna building.  After pondering several options, decided that, by gum, somehow I’m going to make the sauna site plan work.  By noon was clear that the weather guessers had fibbed, so saddled up the Kubota and continued excavating down at the sauna site. Uncovered a half dozen very large rocks that the backhoe couldn’t lift, only roll.  Also dug up a 2′ x 2′ x 3 ½′ monster (about 2,100 lbs worth) that almost stymied me, but eventually it, too, was rolled out of the way.  The 1st of May and that means????  Yes, you got it, the black flies showed up in droves, but were no problem so long as I was enveloped in diesel fumes.  Only had one fly down my throat.  Lake level is 5″ below the top of the dock and the water temperature (2 feet below the surface, as always) is a brisk 50°.  Was sitting around writing up the blog post and thinking about dinner at 6:15 when I heard a tremendous racket out by the road.  Investigating, discovered Jimmy Ploof had arrived with his BIG John Deere 160C excavator.  How big, you ask?  Well, the stump in the picture is quite a bit taller than I am.
