Tim (for a couple of
hours), Kaleb, Matt, Brendin, Jason, and Brett were here for another very productive
day of painting. Kaleb and Matt put two
color coats on the walls of the first and second guest bedrooms, henceforth to
be known as the Red and Blue rooms, respectively. Brendin concentrated on priming the last of
the baseboards. Jason and Brett finished
all of the lower level trim and made a big dent in getting the second coat on
the upper level baseboards. Sonny and
Brandon spent most of the day crafting the Ifelele railing top caps, getting
the lower one installed. Sonny
manufactured the stair tread 1″ nosings out of
“scrap” poplar and installed as many as he could with the short supply of trim
screws on-site. The two carpenters also
spent an hour at the end of the day planing maple boards so that Chree and I
can pick the ones we want to use for thresholds. Somehow, a red oak board ended up in the
pile. Now we just have to figure out (1)
where it came from and (2) where to use it. Steve Poplawski, plumber extraordinaire,
stopped by for an hour mid-afternoon to scope out the remaining plumbing and
HVAC work he needs to do… supposedly starting tomorrow. I spent the morning putting the second coat
of varnish on the first side of the second set of interior doors. Chree and I “discussed” closet shelving with
Sonny right after lunch, with no consensus reached about the material to be
used. Chree and I went down to Marty
& Merry’s for another delightful evening of good fellowship, fine food, and
great cheer.
